Many species around the world have been fooled by these patterns, especially by my Flex Calamari. You have many patterns to choose from depending on where are you fishing, what you are fishing for, and whether it’s inshore or offshore. One of my favorite baitfish for Roosterfish is the Pacific Sardina. The Pacific Sardina has a very dark blue back and a yellow lateral line as well as a black tail. You will find this pattern imitates these characteristics and that makes it deadly. The Apte & Enrico Billfish System is a big fly design for Marlin. Using the combination of the head and tail together will measure 12”. If you are targeting Sailfish the head with the tandem hook, which it will measure 7 or 8” will be sufficient. What makes this pattern so unique is the collapsible hollow head with the punched hole that creates big splash along a bubble trail. The Big Eyes Red Tail and the Pike/Offshore are excellent choices for big fish - especially Musky and Pike.
